BENED LIFE – CHANGING THE AUTISM CONVERSATION
Bened Life and its fantastic team developed the first gut-brain medical probiotic Neuralli – and it is changing the autism conversation.
Prior to working with this absolutely fascinating and lovely new client, I had little knowledge about autism and the spectrum, and I had approached shoots for @goldcoastchildrenscenter in CT the way I walk into an international school classroom: with the idea in mind that everyone’s perception is informed by different cultural ideas and understandings. That’s a great start, but I did welcome the invitation of Bened Life’s community director Sunny Cash to do an online course to learn more about neurodiversity. I gained much more insight than I ever expected.
Good preparation is half of the job. The highly professional creative director of the team, Chrystal Paasch, did her part, I had done mine. Everyone else had done theirs (for those of you whose work involves commercial photography, you know what a rarity that is!) The outcome was a happy team, a happy ME, and one of the biggest compliments I had ever received in my professional career: I was told I can now add “autism-friendly and approved photographer” to my bio. I am truly proud of this, as I believe I am only doing an outstanding job if I am able to tell a person’s or brand’s story in an authentic, loving, and kind way that let’s the viewer understand and appreciate what they see without words.
