NEW YORK FASHION WEEK SPRING 2023

NYFW is more than just fashion – it’s people from different cultures and all walks of life coming together, being willing to share a piece of themselves.

While the shows themselves are captivating, it is the behind-the-scenes that intrigued me most: this is where the magic happens, where the vision of fashion designers is being brought to life, where models transform in front of your eyes to walk and -without words- tell the story of a dress, a brand, a lifestyle.

 It is also where I had the opportunity to get to know everyone a little – the designers, the makeup artists, the models… and where I came to appreciate that everyone, every single person, has something incredible to share. Like Lena, the quiet makeup artist from Ukraine, who manages, in the midst of chaos and adrenaline, to put her models at ease so that not only the makeup, but also the expression on their faces is magical. Or Christy, who is not only a fashion and underwater model, but also a passionate human rights & environmental affairs advocate. Or the lovely Olivia, high school student from Westchester County, NY, who travels to shoots and fashion shows with her mom and carries an elegance few can accomplish at such a young age.

 Most importantly, @nyfw has taught me, once again, that there is always more to a story than what meets the eye first – there is kindness, care, and camaraderie where we may not expect to find it, and that was really the best part of New York Fashion Week for me!
